His most compelling poems, written as a witness to the Holocaust, were banned in Poland until after he received the Nobel Prize. IRIS MURDOCH (1920-1992), wrote 26 novels and philosophical works. She was married to literary critic, novelist and Oxford professor John Bayley, whose memoirs of their life together and Iris' struggle with Alzheimer's disease, became the basis of the 2001 Academy Award-winning film, Iris. Polish-born ISAAC BASHEVIS SINGER (1904-1991) became a world-renowned Yiddish author whose works include Yentl (1983). Singer received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978. Fine condition.
